What to do when you hear, "But I don't have any homework..."

The following are homework expectations for every night.

Must dos:  These activities should be done every night.

1. READ - for 15 or more minutes (could be a book, magazine, kindle etc. – preferably an AR book.) Please have your child work on informational/non-fiction text every other book.

2. Accelerated Math – work on a packet for 15 minutes or until packet is complete

3. Review current spelling and vocabulary words. (Can use spelling games at Spellingcity.com, write words in sidewalk chalk, use a wet paintbrush to "paint" words on the sidewalk, use shaving cream on a plate and make the words with a finger, make the words with magnetic letters, etc.)

4. Practice math facts for about 5-10 minutes using flashcards, or the math links at my blog.

5. Additional homework as assigned

6.  Remember, Tuesday is ACCM scanning day, and students must come to school ready to scan.  Thursday will be Study Island day, and students will be expected to have the assignment from Study Island completed with  85% accuracy or higher.

Choices:  Your child should choose one or two activities from this list every night.

·        Visit my blog and watch one of the linked math videos for short lessons on concepts we are studying. (Under pages – links for math unit videos)

·        Visit my blog and play one of the linked educational games that review concepts. (Under pages – links for fun and games)

·        Review information in the current packet we are working with in school.

·        Write a journal entry for the day to practice writing skills.  (Use a dictionary to look up a new word and use that word in your journal entry.)
